CVSS v3.1 |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ipvlan: Fix out-of-bound bugs caused by unset skb->mac_header
If an AF_PACKET socket is used to send packets through ipvlan and the
default xmit function of the AF_PACKET socket is changed from
dev_queue_xmit() to packet_direct_xmit() via setsockopt() with the option
name of PACKET_QDISC_BYPASS, the skb->mac_header may not be reset and
remains as the initial value of 65535, this may trigger slab-out-of-bounds
bugs as following:

The root cause is:
1. packet_snd() only reset skb->mac_header when sock->type is SOCK_RAW
and skb->protocol is not specified as in packet_parse_headers()
2. packet_direct_xmit() doesn't reset skb->mac_header as dev_queue_xmit()
In this case, skb->mac_header is 65535 when ipvlan_xmit_mode_l2() is
called. So when ipvlan_xmit_mode_l2() gets mac header with eth_hdr() which
use "skb->head + skb->mac_header", out-of-bound access occurs.
This patch replaces eth_hdr() with skb_eth_hdr() in ipvlan_xmit_mode_l2()
and reset mac header in multicast to solve this out-of-bound bug. |

The cause is inside kmem_cache_destroy():
kmem_cache_destroy
acquire lock/mutex
shutdown_cache
schedule_work(kmem_cache_release) (if RCU flag set)
release lock/mutex
kmem_cache_release (if RCU flag not set)
In some certain timing, the scheduled work could be run before
the next RCU flag checking, which can then get a wrong value
and lead to double kmem_cache_release().
Fix it by caching the RCU flag inside protected area, just like 'refcnt' |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bnxt: prevent skb UAF after handing over to PTP worker
When reading the timestamp is required bnxt_tx_int() hands
over the ownership of the completed skb to the PTP worker.
The skb should not be used afterwards, as the worker may
run before the rest of our code and free the skb, leading
to a use-after-free.
Since dev_kfree_skb_any() accepts NULL make the loss of
ownership more obvious and set skb to NULL. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: nfc: Fix use-after-free in local_cleanup()
Fix a use-after-free that occurs in kfree_skb() called from
local_cleanup(). This could happen when killing nfc daemon (e.g. neard)
after detaching an nfc device.
When detaching an nfc device, local_cleanup() called from
nfc_llcp_unregister_device() frees local->rx_pending and decreases
local->ref by kref_put() in nfc_llcp_local_put().
In the terminating process, nfc daemon releases all sockets and it leads
to decreasing local->ref. After the last release of local->ref,
local_cleanup() called from local_release() frees local->rx_pending
again, which leads to the bug.
Setting local->rx_pending to NULL in local_cleanup() could prevent
use-after-free when local_cleanup() is called twice.
Found by a modified version of syzkaller.

net/sched: sch_taprio: fix possible use-after-free
syzbot reported a nasty crash [1] in net_tx_action() which
made little sense until we got a repro.
This repro installs a taprio qdisc, but providing an
invalid TCA_RATE attribute.
qdisc_create() has to destroy the just initialized
taprio qdisc, and taprio_destroy() is called.
However, the hrtimer used by taprio had already fired,
therefore advance_sched() called __netif_schedule().
Then net_tx_action was trying to use a destroyed qdisc.
We can not undo the __netif_schedule(), so we must wait
until one cpu serviced the qdisc before we can proceed.
Many thanks to Alexander Potapenko for his help.

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
EDAC/qcom: Do not pass llcc_driv_data as edac_device_ctl_info's pvt_info
The memory for llcc_driv_data is allocated by the LLCC driver. But when
it is passed as the private driver info to the EDAC core, it will get freed
during the qcom_edac driver release. So when the qcom_edac driver gets probed
again, it will try to use the freed data leading to the use-after-free bug.
Hence, do not pass llcc_driv_data as pvt_info but rather reference it
using the platform_data pointer in the qcom_edac driver. |

vc_screen: move load of struct vc_data pointer in vcs_read() to avoid UAF
After a call to console_unlock() in vcs_read() the vc_data struct can be

load must be done at the top of while loop in vcs_read() to avoid a UAF

net/sched: act_mpls: Fix warning during failed attribute validation
The 'TCA_MPLS_LABEL' attribute is of 'NLA_U32' type, but has a
validation type of 'NLA_VALIDATE_FUNCTION'. This is an invalid
combination according to the comment above 'struct nla_policy':
"
Meaning of `validate' field, use via NLA_POLICY_VALIDATE_FN:
NLA_BINARY Validation function called for the attribute.
All other Unused - but note that it's a union
"
This can trigger the warning [1] in nla_get_range_unsigned() when
validation of the attribute fails. Despite being of 'NLA_U32' type, the
associated 'min'/'max' fields in the policy are negative as they are
aliased by the 'validate' field.
Fix by changing the attribute type to 'NLA_BINARY' which is consistent
with the above comment and all other users of NLA_POLICY_VALIDATE_FN().
As a result, move the length validation to the validation function.
No regressions in MPLS tests:

perf: hisi: Fix use-after-free when register pmu fails
When we fail to register the uncore pmu, the pmu context may not been

Since that's liable to lead to some kind of use-after-free.

=====================================================
The following simple reproducer can cause the issue described above:
int main(void)
{
int sock;
struct sockaddr_vm addr = {
.svm_family = AF_VSOCK,
.svm_cid = VMADDR_CID_ANY,
.svm_port = 1234,
};
sock = socket(AF_VSOCK, SOCK_STREAM, 0);
connect(sock, (struct sockaddr *)&addr, sizeof(addr));
return 0;
}
This issue occurs because the `buf_alloc` and `fwd_cnt` fields of the
`struct virtio_vsock_hdr` are not initialized when a new skb is allocated
in `virtio_transport_init_hdr()`. This patch resolves the issue by
initializing these fields during allocation. |

Input: synaptics-rmi4 - fix use after free in rmi_unregister_function()
The put_device() calls rmi_release_function() which frees "fn" so the
dereference on the next line "fn->num_of_irqs" is a use after free.
Move the put_device() to the end to fix this. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nbd: fix uaf in nbd_open
Commit 4af5f2e03013 ("nbd: use blk_mq_alloc_disk and
blk_cleanup_disk") cleans up disk by blk_cleanup_disk() and it won't set
disk->private_data as NULL as before. UAF may be triggered in nbd_open()
if someone tries to open nbd device right after nbd_put() since nbd has
been free in nbd_dev_remove().
Fix this by implementing ->free_disk and free private data in it. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: hns3: fix out-of-bounds access may occur when coalesce info is read via debugfs
The hns3 driver define an array of string to show the coalesce
info, but if the kernel adds a new mode or a new state,
out-of-bounds access may occur when coalesce info is read via
debugfs, this patch fix the problem. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
vhost-vdpa: fix use after free in vhost_vdpa_probe()
The put_device() calls vhost_vdpa_release_dev() which calls
ida_simple_remove() and frees "v". So this call to
ida_simple_remove() is a use after free and a double free. |

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
sched/psi: Fix use-after-free in ep_remove_wait_queue()
If a non-root cgroup gets removed when there is a thread that registered
trigger and is polling on a pressure file within the cgroup, the polling
waitqueue gets freed in the following path:
do_rmdir
cgroup_rmdir
kernfs_drain_open_files
cgroup_file_release
cgroup_pressure_release
psi_trigger_destroy
However, the polling thread still has a reference to the pressure file and
will access the freed waitqueue when the file is closed or upon exit:
fput
ep_eventpoll_release
ep_free
ep_remove_wait_queue
remove_wait_queue
This results in use-after-free as pasted below.
The fundamental problem here is that cgroup_file_release() (and
consequently waitqueue's lifetime) is not tied to the file's real lifetime.
Using wake_up_pollfree() here might be less than ideal, but it is in line
with the comment at commit 42288cb44c4b ("wait: add wake_up_pollfree()")
since the waitqueue's lifetime is not tied to file's one and can be
considered as another special case. While this would be fixable by somehow
making cgroup_file_release() be tied to the fput(), it would require
sizable refactoring at cgroups or higher layer which might be more
justifiable if we identify more cases like this.
