CVE-2017-1000100 2 Haxx, Redhat 2 Libcurl, Rhel Software Collections 2025-04-20 N/A
When doing a TFTP transfer and curl/libcurl is given a URL that contains a very long file name (longer than about 515 bytes), the file name is truncated to fit within the buffer boundaries, but the buffer size is still wrongly updated to use the untruncated length. This too large value is then used in the sendto() call, making curl attempt to send more data than what is actually put into the buffer. The endto() function will then read beyond the end of the heap based buffer. A malicious HTTP(S) server could redirect a vulnerable libcurl-using client to a crafted TFTP URL (if the client hasn't restricted which protocols it allows redirects to) and trick it to send private memory contents to a remote server over UDP. Limit curl's redirect protocols with --proto-redir and libcurl's with CURLOPT_REDIR_PROTOCOLS.
CVE-2016-8681 1 Libdwarf Project 1 Libdwarf 2025-04-20 5.5 Medium
The _dwarf_get_abbrev_for_code function in dwarf_util.c in libdwarf 20161001 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) by calling the dwarfdump command on a crafted file.
CVE-2017-1000254 2 Haxx, Redhat 3 Libcurl, Jboss Core Services, Rhel Software Collections 2025-04-20 N/A
libcurl may read outside of a heap allocated buffer when doing FTP. When libcurl connects to an FTP server and successfully logs in (anonymous or not), it asks the server for the current directory with the `PWD` command. The server then responds with a 257 response containing the path, inside double quotes. The returned path name is then kept by libcurl for subsequent uses. Due to a flaw in the string parser for this directory name, a directory name passed like this but without a closing double quote would lead to libcurl not adding a trailing NUL byte to the buffer holding the name. When libcurl would then later access the string, it could read beyond the allocated heap buffer and crash or wrongly access data beyond the buffer, thinking it was part of the path. A malicious server could abuse this fact and effectively prevent libcurl-based clients to work with it - the PWD command is always issued on new FTP connections and the mistake has a high chance of causing a segfault. The simple fact that this has issue remained undiscovered for this long could suggest that malformed PWD responses are rare in benign servers. We are not aware of any exploit of this flaw. This bug was introduced in commit [415d2e7cb7](https://github.com/curl/curl/commit/415d2e7cb7), March 2005. In libcurl version 7.56.0, the parser always zero terminates the string but also rejects it if not terminated properly with a final double quote.
CVE-2017-6004 2 Pcre, Redhat 2 Pcre, Jboss Core Services 2025-04-20 N/A
The compile_bracket_matchingpath function in pcre_jit_compile.c in PCRE through 8.x before revision 1680 (e.g., the PHP 7.1.1 bundled version) allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and application crash) via a crafted regular expression.
CVE-2017-16531 1 Linux 1 Linux Kernel 2025-04-20 6.6 Medium
drivers/usb/core/config.c in the Linux kernel before 4.13.6 allows local users to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and system crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted USB device, related to the USB_DT_INTERFACE_ASSOCIATION descriptor.
CVE-2017-14226 2 Libreoffice, Libwpd 2 Libreoffice, Libwpd 2025-04-20 7.5 High
WP1StylesListener.cpp, WP5StylesListener.cpp, and WP42StylesListener.cpp in libwpd 0.10.1 mishandle iterators, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read in the WPXTableList class in WPXTable.cpp). This vulnerability can be triggered in LibreOffice before 5.3.7. It may lead to suffering a remote attack against a LibreOffice application.
CVE-2016-9273 1 Libtiff 1 Libtiff 2025-04-20 N/A
tiffsplit in libtiff 4.0.6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a crafted file, related to changing td_nstrips in TIFF_STRIPCHOP mode.
CVE-2016-9297 1 Libtiff 1 Libtiff 2025-04-20 N/A
The TIFFFetchNormalTag function in LibTiff 4.0.6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via crafted TIFF_SETGET_C16ASCII or TIFF_SETGET_C32_ASCII tag values.
CVE-2017-12987 3 Debian, Redhat, Tcpdump 6 Debian Linux, Enterprise Linux, Enterprise Linux Desktop and 3 more 2025-04-20 9.8 Critical
The IEEE 802.11 parser in tcpdump before 4.9.2 has a buffer over-read in print-802_11.c:parse_elements().
CVE-2017-11668 1 Eapmd5pass Project 1 Eapmd5pass 2025-04-20 N/A
An out-of-bounds read flaw related to the assess_packet function in eapmd5pass.c:134 was found in the way eapmd5pass 1.4 handled processing of network packets. A remote attacker could potentially use this flaw to crash the eapmd5pass process under certain circumstances by generating specially crafted network traffic.
CVE-2017-13001 2 Redhat, Tcpdump 2 Enterprise Linux, Tcpdump 2025-04-20 N/A
The NFS parser in tcpdump before 4.9.2 has a buffer over-read in print-nfs.c:nfs_printfh().
CVE-2017-13003 2 Redhat, Tcpdump 2 Enterprise Linux, Tcpdump 2025-04-20 N/A
The LMP parser in tcpdump before 4.9.2 has a buffer over-read in print-lmp.c:lmp_print().
CVE-2017-5545 1 Libimobiledevice 1 Libplist 2025-04-20 N/A
The main function in plistutil.c in libimobiledevice libplist through 1.12 allows attackers to obtain sensitive information from process memory or cause a denial of service (buffer over-read) via Apple Property List data that is too short.
CVE-2016-2367 3 Canonical, Debian, Pidgin 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Pidgin 2025-04-20 N/A
An information leak exists in the handling of the MXIT protocol in Pidgin. Specially crafted MXIT data sent via the server could potentially result in an out-of-bounds read. A malicious user, server, or man-in-the-middle can send an invalid size for an avatar which will trigger an out-of-bounds read vulnerability. This could result in a denial of service or copy data from memory to the file, resulting in an information leak if the avatar is sent to another user.
CVE-2017-5834 1 Libimobiledevice 1 Libplist 2025-04-20 N/A
The parse_dict_node function in bplist.c in libplist allows attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds heap read and crash) via a crafted file.
CVE-2017-17784 3 Canonical, Debian, Gimp 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Gimp 2025-04-20 7.8 High
In GIMP 2.8.22, there is a heap-based buffer over-read in load_image in plug-ins/common/file-gbr.c in the gbr import parser, related to mishandling of UTF-8 data.
CVE-2016-2374 3 Canonical, Debian, Pidgin 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Pidgin 2025-04-20 N/A

CVE-2016-2380 3 Canonical, Debian, Pidgin 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Pidgin 2025-04-20 N/A
An information leak exists in the handling of the MXIT protocol in Pidgin. Specially crafted MXIT data sent to the server could potentially result in an out-of-bounds read. A user could be convinced to enter a particular string which would then get converted incorrectly and could lead to a potential out-of-bounds read.
